Just a few tips for our Brides - especially if you've never tried wedding dresses before ♡
✨️ Be open minded
Often, Brides have a strong idea of a certain style that they want - always be open to the idea that this style may not be 'the one'.
✨️ Wear comfy/well fitted undies
I cannot put into words how important this is! I am a HUGE supporter of a pair of good ole 'Bridget Jones pants' or shapewear too!
✨️ Select your entourage wisely
This is so, so, so important! Keep your entourage small - we suggest between 1 and 3 people is best. Too many opinions can be confusing. If Aunty Deb is too opinionated, it may be wise to leave her at home! Unwanted comments can be disheartening and a confidence knocker.
✨️ Remember it's all about you
Often Brides rely too heavily on opinions of others - Remember, it's your dress and your day! Allowing your entourage to select a dress or two for you to try is great, but remember to take control of your appointment and set your limits - trying on dresses can be tiring and trying too many can be so confusing.
✨️ Try something different
Don't be afraid to try something different - we always suggest to try on something that may be a different colour than you imagined. Trust me, it's always so surprising!
✨️ Ignore the size label
It's no secret that wedding dress sizing is incredibly mean at times! We try our best to label the dresses at their 'true size', but don't fixate on the label size, as it's usually always completely out. In most cases, you may need to size up 1 or 2 sizes.
✨️ Relax
It can be so daunting before your appointment, with so many thoughts crossing your mind. Please don't worry - we are here to help. If you have any questions before you arrive, just message us. Try not to overthink - you will look amazing, no matter your size, shape etc! You have the entire shop to yourself for your appointment- we are here to support you and happy to have a pre-trying on cuppa!
We hope this helps and answers any questions you may have, but of course, get in touch if you need us ❤️

By Millie Fuller
“Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed,Something Blue, A Sixpence in her Shoe”
Wedding ceremonies are a tradition that not even the winds of change can ruffle. This sweet 19th-century verse is proof of that. Despite following it, we're still not quite sure where exactly it came from. (It's like a secret thread that binds brides, whispering its history).
Its origins are a subject of much discussion among scholars and enthusiasts alike. Some say it traces back to tales from County Monaghan folklore, while others point to a Lancashire-based newspaper. Wherever the truth lies, we're left with mystery. The story's first lines are said to have surfaced in 1871, nestled in the pages of St James' Magazine.
Some experts agree that the final verse of the rhyme is a newer Victoriana twist, thought to have sprung up in the early 1900s.
Something old and Something Blue
It's believed that having "something old" on your wedding day can shield you from the evil eye. This Greek superstition claims that those jealous might cast curses affecting a bride's fertility. Including "something blue" was double protection.
Something New
Something new is an exciting symbol of what's to come – a fresh start for the pair, filled with happiness.
Something Borrowed
It might be an old tradition, but it doesn't have to be old-fashioned. It's about sharing in someone else's happiness. The belief is that something from a happily married woman can bring good luck to the new bride.
A Sixpence in Her Shoe
The last line is often missed off renditions. Minted from 1551-1967, the sixpence's lucky origin is a bit mysterious but pre-dates the 16th century. Centuries later and pennies are still tucked into Christmas pudding to bless the finder. Maybe it's not just a penny for your thoughts - it's a little bit of magic.
Something Old, Something New in the 21st Century
💍 Something Old: The Ring
You might have heard that preloved engagement rings are jinxed? Well, for me, it's quite the opposite. There's something endearing about knowing my ring goes back to the 80s and was made in Birmingham (the engravings tell the story).
And don't they also say that vintage is always in vogue? You can find a literal gem that's not in every shop window!
🔥 Something New: The Lingerie
Lingerie, the secret weapon. A good fit can transform more than your silhouette. From delicate satin to intricate lace, the right set brings out your confidence.
👰🏼 Something Borrowed: The Dress
In the past, brides would give their wedding dress a second life. But this 18th-19th century idea ended with the advent of 'a dress for a day'.
Considering the often hefty price tags on wedding gowns, it's no wonder people are looking for money-saving alternatives. Right up there with the costs of the venue, photography, and entertainment, it can really eat into a budget.
Buying a pre-loved gown can slash that expense considerably. That's right, slipping into the dream designer dress is open to all!
🍾 Something Blue: The Fizz
'Something blue' has evolved beyond the garter. Now, there are endless ways to get creative. Imagine sipping on blue sparkling wine (it's a thing) or adding a cute charm to your hair.
🪙 A Sixpence: The Penny
In the event that you can't find a genuine sixpence in circulation, did you know a penny can fit the bill? However, if you're after the traditional glint of silver, you can easily snag a replica online.
